"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah."

Joyful, Joyful, we adore you
1 Joyful, joyful, we adore You, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flow'rs before You, Op'ning to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day! 2 All Your works with joy surround You, Earth and heav'n reflect Your rays, Stars and angels sing around You, Center of unbroken praise; Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flow'ry meadow, flashing sea, Chanting bird and flowing fountain Praising You eternally! 3 Always giving and forgiving, Ever blessing, ever blest, Well-spring of the joy of living, Ocean-depth of happy rest! Loving Father, Christ our Brother, Let Your light upon us shine; Teach us how to love each other, Lift us to the joy divine. 4 Mortals, join the mighty chorus, Which the morning stars began; God's own love is reigning o’er us, Joining people hand in hand. Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife; Joyful music leads us sunward In the triumph song of life. Author: Henry van Dyke Composer: Ludwig van Beethoven Taken on November 9, 2009 with a Canon PowerShot A630 at Somerville Lake, Texas. Jesus, Savior, pilot me
1 Jesus, Savior, pilot me, Over life's tempestuous sea; Unknown waves before me roll, Hiding rock and treach'rous shoal; Chart and compass come from Thee: Jesus, Savior, pilot me! 2 As a mother stills her child, Thou canst hush the ocean wild; Boist'rous waves obey Thy will When Thou say'st to them, "Be still!" Wondrous Sov'reign of the sea, Jesus, Saviour, pilot me! 3 When at last I near the shore, And the fearful breakers roar 'Twixt me and the peaceful rest, Then, while leaning on Thy breast, May I hear Thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee!" Author: Edward Hopper Music: John E. Gould Scripture: Psalm 93:4; Matthew 8:26; Mark 4:39 “Jesus, Savior, pilot me” is a fitting hymn for this photo of Lake Winnebago taken on a windy October day.. The words were written as a poem for The Sailor’s Magazine in 1871 by Edward Hopper, but he did not include his name when it was published. John E. Gould wrote the music unaware of who the author's name. In 1880, the two men met at an anniversary celebration for the Seaman’s Friend Society and learned of their individual contributions to the hymn. Although initially written for sailors, this hymn can be an encouragement to everyone during their lives.
